Transparent Elections

As a founding member of the Paper Tigers -- a Boulder-based "good elections" watchdog group -- I have spent years fighting for paper ballots and paper trails and the ability to hand count those ballots in order to ascertain the reliability of elections.

Elections are our one and only means of "throwing the bums out" and elections that are insecure eliminate the essense of democracy.

As a member of the Paper Tigers, I argued strongly with the County Commissioners that the machines that they had authorized and paid for would not work reliably.  We were proven to be correct when Boulder County's fiasco of a primary election in 2004 had Boulder be the last county in the country to report its vote totals.

I am dedicated to democracy whether in the voting booth or talking with citizens as County Commissioner.
